A tour-de-force of cabinetry, a superbly detailed satinwood and exotic wood inlaid writing table with designs of the sciences and putti raised on finely carved tapering gilt legs set on lotus leaf feet. The small drawer opens for storage, but a further lock opens a secret larger drawer with hidden storage and a hinged panel to support a book. Fully lined interior with further inlays, and abundant applied rococo cast brass detail. The original design was made by Beurdeley in early 19th century. (Old salescode: 494535)
